Video Transcoding

MediaCP offers support for Video Transcoding allowing you to broadcast live video in multiple qualities to your audience, saving on bandwidth while delivering the best possible quality streams to each user’s specific device

Important Information

Transcoding Profiles must be enabled by a reseller or administrator from the Service -> Configure -> Features/Wowza/Nginx-Rtmp tab.

 The video below will help you understand how to enable and configure Stream Transcoder within the MediaCP.

Configure Transcoding

Transcoding needs to be enabled and configured by an administrator or reseller from the configure page either in the features tab or the video server tab depending on the streaming server being used.

Eight resolutions are supported ranging from 160p to 4k as well as the option for a passthru/source profile to provide a non-transcoded option saving on system resources.

Test Your Server's Transcoding Capabilities

 
 
Transcoding requires a great amount of processing power and even powerful CPUs will struggle to perform with high quality transcoding. If your server cannot keep up you may see high CPU usage, video buffering, pausing, stopping, or outright not playing.
